The VA Tech Elin EBG came out from the 1892 created F. Pichler works and existed since 1908 as ELIN corporation for electrical industry, since 1959 as ELIN UNION AG for electrical industry and is since 1997 the infrastructure section of the Austrian technology enterprise VA Tech. With its assumption by Siemens in the year 2005 it is now a component of the Siemens company, whereby the section for building of hydro-electric power plants, which had to be separated VA Tech hydraulic, from trust-legal reasons, and in the spring 2006 to the Austrian and-cut AG one sold.

History

Until 1918

In the year 1892 that created at that time engineer Franz Pichler in the steirischen Weiz the F. Pichler of works. Electrical machines were produced, under it also already nickel plating direct current generators and direct current shunt link direct current generators in the first workshop in the Birkfelderstrasse.

1897 are renamed after enterprise by lack of own capital funds necessary entrance which was by engineer Cornel Masal in "„Weizer of power stations Franz Pichler & CO "“. A first large factory-resounds in the extent of 350 m could be established. The enterprise active in the rising branch of technology electricity expanded and opened first external offices and - posts.

During the First World War the sales decreased/went back clearly at private customers, while defense contracts arrived ever more frequently. The enterprise placed projectiles, engines and transformers for k.u.k. Army ago, and even received a secret mission for the production of electrical mechanisms of submarines. 1918 to 1938

1938 to 1945

Since 1945

In the year 1946 the ELIN put under state control with which the factories into Penzing, Ottakring and Weiz into the property of the Republic of Austria  over went. The remaining production plants led a kind independent existence under the Russian administration up to their return 1955 as USIA enterprises. The oil crisis at the beginning of the 1980-he 1980 led to a world-wide economic situation break-down, which in the put under state control industry by strong order decreases became noticeable. The enormous competition pressure, the loss of market shares, rising costs with sinking yields, and the small investment activity of the Austrian economy forced to a re-organization "„of the ELIN UNION AG "“1989. The enterprise was divided into "„the Elin power supply total Ltd. "“(EEV) and "„the Elin application of energies total Ltd. "“(EEA), and one "„service total Ltd. "“was created likewise. 1997 were united the enterprise together with the upper-Austrian electrical building AG from the VA Tech to "„the VA Tech Elin EBG "“.
