According to the watchdog of People's Republic
of China, he country is going to apply anti-monopoly rules in
evaluating the bid of Coca Cola Company to purchase Chinese juice firm
called Huiyan. The United
Statespopular drinks company Coca
Cola looks forward to swallow the Chinese company is a bid that reaches
$2.5 billion.
The move of the American company will
be closely monitored due to the fact that such case is the first under China's
new antitrust laws.
It is worth mentioning that last week Coca
Cola's bid to acquire the Chinese drinks company triggered anger in the
country because a national leader might be swallowed by an overseas
company.
China currently represents a fast
growing market for drinks and the American drinks giant hopes to
increase its influence. This is why Coca Cola decided to offer 12.20 Hong Kong
dollars per share for the Chinese drinks
leader, which is about three times the company's closing price last Friday.
The research company AC Nielsen
presented data according to which Huiyan possesses a 44 percent market share by
sales value in the country' pure juice and 42 percent of the nectar segment.
According to the officials of
the Chinese giant, Coca Cola was
getting the documents ready to send to Beijing competitions authorities.
"We are prepared to accept the decision
of the Ministry of Commerce one way or the other," stated the vice president for strategic development of the Chinese
drinks market leader Huiyan.
