The vitamins were discovered only in the XX^th century, but the value of eating fruits, vegetables and other kinds of food were recognized already in ancient times.

The word "vitamine" was introduced by Kazimierz Funk in 1912, from which, later, originated the term vitamin. It signified a group of compounds considered vital for life. As all those compounds were thought to have a nitrogen-containing component known as an amine, they got the name "vitamine" – vital amine. The "e" from the end of the word was dropped down in 1920, as a suggestion from Jack Cecil Drummond, when it was discovered that Vitamin C doesn't contain nitrogen, thus not all are amines.

If you own a cell phone it is very important, time to time, to clean it, because every day on the phones conglomerate thousands of germs. Cotton^[1] is a soft, staple fiber that grows around the seeds of the cotton plant, a shrub native to tropical and subtropical regions around the world, including the India and Africa. Cotton fiber, once it has been processed to remove seeds (ginning) and traces of honeydew, protein, vegetable matter, and other impurities, consists of nearly pure cellulose, a natural polymer. Cotton production is very efficient, in the sense that only ten percent or less of the weight is lost in subsequent processing to convert the raw cotton bolls into pure fiber. The cellulose is arranged in a way that gives cotton fibers a high degree of strength, durability, and absorbency. Each fiber is made up of twenty to thirty layers of cellulose coiled in a neat series of natural springs. When the cotton boll is opened, the fibers dry into flat, twisted, ribbon-like shapes and become kinked together and interlocked. This interlocked form is ideal for spinning into a fine yarn.

Spathiphyllum is a wonderful group of tropical plants and are simply sensational indoors plants. Even better, spaths or peace lily, as they’re often called by horticulturists, are easy to care for and grow in the home. It has impressive foliage, relief to the touch, at the end of a thin long branch. Its white flowers, as impressive, come as the perfect distraction to the dark green foliage. There are all kinds of Spathiphyllum varieties to choose from, but they’ve basically all got fairly long, oblong leaves that come to a point, and they all feature simple white blooms.
