          RJE format shipping waybill processing system is implemented.

          Accounts payable/receivable system is implemented for branch-office use.

          Installation of IBM 4341 LO1 (4MB mem.), aiming at higher efficiency to keep up with an increase in business department programs.

          Extension of VAN (value-added network) services to medium and small- sized businesses.

          Completion of an on-line system linking 141 branches of Seino Transportation.

Oct.,1983         

          Installation of an IBM 3083-E16 (16MB mem.) to prepare for an increase in on-line system functionality and the network connection of all members of the Seino Group.

Mar.,1984         

          Establishment of Seino Information Service Co., Ltd. as an independent corporation occupying the computer room of Seino Transportation.

          On March 1, 1984, Seino Information Service Co., Ltd. is established with $3,000,000 in capital funds through the cooperation of Seino Transportation, Juroku Bank, Tokai Bank, Ogaki Kyoritsu Bank and others.

Aug.,1984        

          An on-line network is completed, linking 291 offices in the Seino Group and becoming the largest shipping management system in the industry and the largest on-line network in all of Japan. Shipping branches are connected with related agencies through the network.

           Additional installation of an IBM 3081-KX3 (32MB mem.).

Aug., 1985       

            Operation of a fiber-optic "backbone network."

Oct., 1985        

             Interface of IBM/NMS and the design of a genuine VAN.

Jun., 1986        

          Formation of a combined product distribution/finance VAN with the cooperation of Tokai Bank.

Aug., 1986       

          Establishment of a regional VAN with plans for nationwide service within three years.

Sep., 1986       

          Agreement with three of Japan's largest securities companies (Nomura, Daiwa, Nikko) to connect to the Seino VAN.

            Additional installation of an IBM 3090-150 (32MB mem.)

Apr., 1987        

          Decision with a South Korean data transmission company to implement an international VAN.

Dec., 1987       

          Agreement with the Tohoku Power Group and the Shikoku Power Group to connect to the VAN.

Oct.,1988         

          SIS is awarded a commendation from the Minister of Posts and Telecommunication for its contribution to and promotion of information management.

Nov., 1988       

          Jizake VAN (a distribution system for regionally-produced wines) is brought into operation on a national scale.

          SIS is a core participant in the construction planning conference for "Softopia Japan," a high-technology center to be built in Gifu Prefecture.

          Japan Logistics Development Co., Ltd. is established as an information group with the combined investment of Seino Transportation and Japan IBM.

          With the cooperation of key enterprises in Gifu Prefecture, the Sofia Research Institute, Inc. is established to promote information management locally.

Oct., 1991        

          Plans are announced to develop a mobile communications system using Japan's first communications satellite.

Apr., 1992        

          Construction begins on new company facilities, with the new buildings scheduled for completion within a year.

Sep., 1992       

          Additional installation of an IBM 9021-640 (256MB main mem., 256MB auxiliary mem.).

           The new buildings are opened for use.

            Omnitracs (mobile satellite communications system) service begins.

          The "Seino Product Distribution System Fair" is held jointly with Seino Transportation.
