In 1886 David McConnell founded The California Perfume Company.  McConnell's goal was to produce a series of products of high quality to those existing and to distribute them from laboratory directly to customers through a selling agent. Mrs. Albee was the first representative of the company, she was also the person to create the system of direct sales, used today by million representatives from around the world, especially women.  In 1939 the company name is officially changed in AVON Products Inc. Why Avon? After a visit in England David McConnell noted that his laboratory surroundings from Suffern looked like those in hometown of Shakespeare - Stratford UPON AVON.

Avon offers to a woman more than beauty products it also offers self confidence, financial independence and ability to assert. The company vision has always been the same: to be the company that best understands women’s requirements and aspirations. That’s why in 1998 the company name changed in AVON - The Company for women.
