Nationally, the poverty rate was 15.1% in 2010, marking an increase of 3.8% compared to 2000. This was at the highest level since 1993 until now. Statistics means that more than 46 million Americans lived below the poverty line in 2010. Four-person family income was 22.3 U.S. dollars, reaching the 1989 level.
